At noon on Sunday, Super!Giant!Jump!Star! closed with a Supernova Ceremony — a ritual of gratitude, release, and transition.

Artist Zuzka Ernst, who traveled from Vienna, began with a listening meditation. We stood in a wide circle, each with one hand on our own chest and one resting on the back of the person to our left, feeling first the vibration of our own hearts and then the shared pulse of the group.

Members of Richmond Zen then led the First Galactic Season Ceremony, chanting the Great Wisdom, Beyond Wisdom Heart Sutra and offering a special dedication. Jump!Star founder George Ferrandi then followed with Song for Supernova Ceremony, a poem written for this moment — to help us honor what we’d built and find peace in its dissolution.

Afterward, participants were invited to extract artifacts from the sculptures — a gentle beginning to the collective dismantling. What might have felt like destruction instead became a meditation on how the ending of any thing is the beginning of some other thing.
